DESIGN PROJECT PROCESS

INITIAL PROJECT MEETING

  • Establish a designated project team with representation from all parties involved (Client/End User, Workplace Resource, Architect/ Designer).
  • Define roles and responsibilities.
  • Establish a master project schedule and regular meeting dates.

PROJECT SPACE PROGRAMMING

  • Confer with key individuals, department managers and employees to determine interdepartmental relationships, traffic patterns, paper workflow, overall growth plans and design concepts as well as physical space requirements and individual job functions.
  • Survey data and general office equipment to determine location and electrical requirements.
  • Evaluate common areas requirements such as conference rooms, file and storage rooms, employee lounge, etc.
  • Evaluate physical building characteristics including lighting and power sources.
  • Inventory, label and evaluate the conditions of existing furniture for the possibility of re-use.

SPACE PLANNING AND DESIGN

  • Develop block plans indicating the location of departments, conference, storage and common areas as well as typical private office and workstation standards.
  • Prepare floor plans based on architectural plans locating specific work areas to review with the client for approval and/or revisions.
  • Upon acceptance of final plans, coordinate details on electrical and communication requirements based on architectural floor plans.
  • Develop the interior design concept and color/ finish schedules for client’s review.

SPECIFICATIONS, PROCUREMENT AND INSTALLATION

  • Prepare specifications and pricing for new furniture as required.
  • Submit proposal and finish selections to the client for approval.
  • Upon acceptance of specifications and proposal, coordinate procurement, ware-housing and installation of products ordered.
  • Track orders and communicate with client in reference to ship dates, changes or revisions, and installation details.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor delivery and installation of furniture in coordination with other contractors involved in the project.
  • Insure that the progress of work is as per the agreed to schedule.
  • Conduct final walk through with client and other parties involved to review the final installation.
